Crystals normally form in groups (called clusters) with a wide variety of sizes within the group. The points of the crystals are 6 sided when occuring naturally. It is used in Quartz watches (surprise, surprise!) and those piezo electric thingummys you light your gas rings with.

Quartz occurs with various different inclusions of other crystals inside and growing on it's surface. These include Tourmaline, Rutile, Citrine, Amethyst, Calcite etc!
